Ladies Retreat

Friday Five

ok I know it is not technically Friday yet, but I will be leaving early in the morning.

1.What’s a film you were sure you would dislike but ended up liking?
I didn't think I would like the movie "The Passion". I think that it was because of all the hype surrounding the movie. It isn't a movie that I watch all of the time. But I think that the movie was made very well.

2.What food did you used to dislike but now enjoy?
umm... I used to hate brussel sprouts. I think that it is a vegetable that strikes fear into the heart of children. But know I like then. OOH I have a very good recipe for them too. I will post it on my blog on Monday!

3. What silly fad or craze do you remember immersing yourself in?
Ok do you remeber when it was really cool to have those big sleeves, the kind that Selena used to where? I got a shirt like that for Christmas one year, and I wore it as mush as I could.

4.What was the last thing you regretted purchasing as soon as you got it home?
Today I bought a 12in sub from Subway. But I regretted not ordering the 6 in because I didn't eat the whole thing. But my sister ate it, so I guess all worked out.

5. How would you describe your taste in the opposite sex?

I don't know right now. I like someone who loves God, and desires to serve Him.

Have a Blessed Day!

God Bless,

Nicole

Ladies Retreat

Tomorrow my mom, myself and a few other of the ladies from my church are going up to ladies retreat. I have never been to Ladies Retreat before, so I am excited, however not exactly sure what to expect.

There is one other person my age going, which is Jessica from my church. Other than that I am not too sure how many will be around my age.

But I am looking forward to it. I know that God put things in motion for me to be able to go, because I have someone to preach youth service and such. So I am really excited to see what God has in store.

Hope that you have a Blessed Day!

God Bless,
Nicole

Where's the Shampoo!

Aren't we strange creatures?

Well, Monday night, my sister went to a friends house. So I was alone for the night, and I had mowed the lawn earlier. So I decided to take a shower. And my first question is, where is the shampoo? I still don't know where it is, and have been using another kind. But it really go me thinking about somethings.

Do we do this with God sometimes? We are plotting along in our own lives. Sometimes we act like we don't even need God. "That's alright God, I can handle this one on my own." Well God isn't going to force His will on us. He gave us a choice, right? Well as soon as something goes wrong in our lives we say, "Where are you God?"

We wonder why at times in our life we feel so far away from God. Well God isn't the one moving. We are. We make choices, and choose a course of actions that lead us away from God. Then wonder why we can't feel him.

Psalm 25:4 Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.

Lord,
I know that I don't always follow your direction. I know that I sometimes feel I can handle things on my own. But God I truely want Your will and Your direction in my life. Help me to gain a deeper relationship with You. "Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths". Your ways are the perfect ways for my life, because You are perfect. I praise You and thank You for all that You do and are doing in my life. Help those around me, to see You through me.

In the precious name of Jesus I pray,
Amen

I hope that you have a Blessed Day!

God Bless,
Nicole

Our upcoming vacation

I am so excited about our vacation coming up. We are going to Indiana for almost a week, and taking our pop-up camper. It should be so much fun.

There are several things that I really like about camping there. For one thing, the park is beautiful. It is a state park, set by a lake. It is just really wonderful. The other thing that I like, is last time we went, we got some delicious corn from a local vender.

But probably the thing that I like the most is, it is near Amish country. Why do I like the Amish, I don't really know. I have been reading some books by Beverly Lewis, and they are set in Amish communities, and I really enjoy them.

There is a place to visit called, Shipshawana (I think I spelled that right). And there are all sorts of shops and restaurants, and evena museum about the Amish and Mennonites. It is so neat.

Friday Five

1. From what stores is it impossible for you to emerge empty-handed?

There are many stores that it is hard for me to leave without buying something. Probably the one that I buy the most at is CVS. I can't even explain my obsession with this little store. They just have so much. Another store is Walmart. I feel like this is some kind of confessional. I just really like that store, they have such good sales. I know that there are those who hate this store. Can someone please explain this to me?

2. Where do you go when you need to spend a little bit of make-me-feel-better money?

Wow, I can't believe this question. Let me tell you why. Last week I was really bummin, feeling bad about myself, my life, my situation (enough said?) So I decided to go get my eyebrows waxed. Maybe this contradicts the "make-me-feel better" idea, since I am basically paying someone to cause me physical pain. I guess it is the whole concept of taking care of me. Did it make me feel better, no it burned for a good hour afterwards. However It made me think, "Well at least when people see me, they won't see someone with shaggy eyebrows. Is this vain?

3. What store you did you used to frequent but no longer find appealing?

Hmm.. good question! I used to love to go to Old Navy. I mean really like the store. But I don't really go there anymore.

4. If you opened your own retail store (not a food-service establishment), what would be its theme, name, and target clientele?

Oh I have this question. It would be a store designed around womens modest apparel. I would have casual, dress and formal clothing. Even modest wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses. I would call it "My Sister's Closet" because that is a running joke between my sister and I. If we don't have anything to wear we shop at our sisters closet. The clientele would probably be Christian women who are tired of picking through regular department stores.

5. If you had to purchase all your friends’ gifts at one store for the rest of your life, which would you choose?

For the rest of my life? Are you crazy? lol I guess Meijer, because they have everything that I can think of. I hope that I could do it.

Have a Blessed Day!

Nicole

Our new "Thing"

So Jackie and I have a new "thing". We decided to go play tennis this summer. I have some rackets from when I used to play, which was in high school. Which was 3 years ago. (Man I am getting old!)

Anyways, we go to the local middle school, and hit the ball around for a while. I think we both are getting our serves down. We just need to work on being able to hit the ball, after it is served.

Tennis was the one sport that I played in high school. I tell people that all of the sports "genes" skipped me and went straight to Jackie. She is soo good at sports. In school she plays volleyball, and she played basketball one year.

It's not that I don't like to play sports. I mean I like tennis, and I like to play baseball. But I like to do it for fun. Not when people are counting on you, like it is life or death.

Oh well, so much for senseless ramblings on sports. We have went out twice now. And we plan to try to get out there quite a bit during the remainder of the summer.

I hope that you have a Blessed Day!

God Bless,
Nicole

Junior High Camp

This week was junior high camp for our churches in Michigan. Jackie, and several other youth from our church and Roseville went, and it sounds like they had a really good time!

We drove about six of the campers up on Tuesday. There was about 7 adults that went up and we went and worked in the Kitchen for the day. It was hard work, but it was fun! We helped make sub sandwiches for lunch, and mosticolli and meatballs for dinner. We helped prep the salad bar, and make desserts. I helped make cookie dough for the rest of the week. I have never seen so much cookie dough in my life.

Then we went back up on Friday to take them home. It was a nice ride, with some rain. When we got up there, we walked around and tried to get everyone' stuff packed up and loaded in the van.

We went to service and that was really awesome. It was great to see the youth take an active part in the service. A few of them praise sang, and sang in the choir. One of the youth even got MVP for junior high camp.

Then we gathered everyone after service and went home. Stopping at Subway for something to eat. We did get home pretty late.

Hope that you have a Blessed Day!

God Bless,
Nicole

Friday Five

1.What would be cool "entry music" for you upon your arrival at work or school?
umm... I don't know. Probably the song that my blog is named after, The Air I Breathe

2.How have you personalized your personal computer?
I downlodad my own wallpaper, a new internet browser, and fonts. That is about all.

3.If someone were trying to decide if something were written in your handwriting, what might be a giveaway?
The sloppiness, lol. I hate my handwriting. Probably the way that I write Js and fs. I guess.

4. If someone who loved you wanted to get a tattoo on his or her arm as a secret reminder of you, what would be a good tattoo?
If they loved me they would not get a tatoo. I really don't like them.

5.If you were the sort to do damage to others' property, what would your graffiti name be?
Something with the word frog in it.

Have a Blessed Day!

Nicole

History

I really like history, I think that it is so interesting and neat. But taking classes in college has really made me think about somethings.

In school, I was told that Columbus had to convince the King and Queen that the earth was not flat, and that everyone thought that he was going to fall off the end of the world. But the truth is that everyone thought that the world was round.

There are many examples of this, through out the classes that I am taking. So, how many things have we been lied to about? Why do they continue to teach the wrong things at schools?

I think that one thing that is disheartening is the fact that there are somethings that Americans are too embarassed to talk about. Things such as the Japanese "relocation" camps that America had during WWII. Or about the anti-catholic attitude that this country was founded on. I think that if we as a nation expect to work through the predjudices that we have, we need to be willing to admit, that we are not a perfect nation. We have our faults.

Nicole

Horrified!

Well I wanted to tell you about something that happened while we were on vacation. After walking around the Cherry Festival, that night they were having fireworks, and we decided that it would be fun to go. So we left for the festival grounds, and found a place to sit and watch the fireworks.

There were soo many people there to watch them, that we actually had a hard time trying to find somewhere to sit. They were amazing fireworks, Some I had never seen before. Like this one that exploded and then for like 30 sec. to a minute it hovered in the air. It was just so cool I had never seen that before.

As I said there were a lot of people there, and I have to admit I am a bit of an eavesdropper and a people watcher, so I was observing those around us. Well after a few of the fireworks went off, this girl behind us shouted "I worship you!" Let me just say that this was not directed to God, but to the people letting off the fireworks. She didn't just say this once, but she shouted several times. Every time she did I felt my skin crawl.

I mean I understand showing your appreciation, but am I wrong for feeling she went to far? God deserves our praise and our worship, and I can't imagine saying something like that. All I have to say is that I was horrified.

Hope that you have a Blessed Night!

God Bless,
Nicole

Friday Five

1. How long does it take you to get ready in the mornings for whatever you have to do on a typical day?
It usually takes my about 45 minutes to get ready on a day that I have school. On church days it depends, probably between 30 minutes to an hour.

2. If you had to retrieve your birth certificate right now, how long would it take before you had it in hand?
About 2 minutes.

3. How long would it take you, via the quickest means available, to get to the place of your birth from where you are right now?
Umm about 15 minutes.

4. How long has it been since your last visit to the dentist?
I am like half a month over due for my 6 month check up. But it is not my fault. They couldn't get me in right away.

5. How long is your usual get-ready-for-bed routine?
I don't really have a routine, usually I get ready for bed, which takes about 5 minutes. Then climb into my bed, then go to sleep.

Hope you have a Blessed Day!

Nicole

Goals Update

First of all I would like to thank everyone who gave book suggestions. I will be working on trying to read those that you have suggested.

My goal of cleaning my room, is almost accomplished. I however did not make my deadline. But I am working hard on completing it. So far I have done 4 loads of wash. I have thrown away 4 bags of trash so far. Hopefully I will be able to complete this by Thursday, because my cousins will be back again, and they take naps in my room. So wish me luck, lol.

I spent a good part of Saturday cleaning. I guess that one of the good things about cleaning is you find things that you forgot you had. Such as, I found a perfume that I forgot I bought.

Well, I really should stop procrastinating and get back to cleaning my room.

Have a Blessed Day!

God Bless,
Nicole
